# Platform announcements

> Where OTO announces new features, carrier integration changes and planned maintenance, and how to receive them in the app, by email or both.

Announcements are how OTO tells you something about the platform itself — a new capability, a change to a carrier integration, planned maintenance.

## Where they appear

| **In the dashboard** | Surfaced in the interface, so you see them while working rather than only when you go looking. |
| **In the Communication Center** | Alongside your other notifications, with the same read and unread state. See [Collaboration & notifications](https://docs.tryoto.com/platform/collaboration-and-notifications.md). |
| **In the mobile app** | The merchant app carries them too, for people who do not open the dashboard daily. |

## Controlling them

Announcements are a notification type like any other. At **Settings → Notifications**, under **General Announcement**, each person chooses whether to receive them **In-App**, by **Email**, both, or neither.

> **Worth leaving on for at least one person per team**

> This is the channel that carries changes to how the platform behaves — a carrier integration changing, a new setting appearing, a maintenance window.
>
> Muted everywhere, the first anyone hears of a change is when something behaves unexpectedly. Somebody who watches configuration should keep it on, even if the rest of the team does not.
